9M4RBK finally operational.

Repeater 9M4RBK at Laban Rata Mount Kinabalu finally operational. This is the best repeater of all cause it situated at 3100m above sea level and can cover up to 95% of Sabah Area regardless of shadow area.

From Lahad Datu just 5watt RF power can easily trigger and hold it. RF Strength receive from it hold steadily between S5 to S7

Big thank you for the maintenance team.

My APRS base station status. Both in UI-View and Google Earth.

Mobile APRS station is in construction that will be repeated via my Digipeater to APRS server.

My idea to reduce IC-706MK2G's heating.

Below is some pictures to share with HAM operators who own an IC-706MK2G. As I found out that this radio set easily get heat up and finally hot after standby or operating for just an hour. Well I too try to get in touch with 9W2RZL who also own one. His 706 also will warm up and get hot after on air.
The internal cooling FAN works only when we are transmitting. Hope my idea helps and indeed it solves my problem by stopping my 706 being heat up.

I use two 60mm cooling fan that usually used for cooling video processors or CPUs. Well its just fit nice to the thickness of the set. Fit nicely at both side of the set but just using paper clip after shaping it to hold the fan and screwed it to the two screw holds located at both side of the radio.

Homebrew UHF Antenna for Amateur Satelllite.

Below is my on going 12 element UHF satellite base antenna for amateur satellite operation that will pair with Diamond A144s10 VHF antenna.

Looks like commercial UHF antenna. Actually is a homebrewed antenna.

Joint Maintenance team to 9M4RBK

On the 2 August 2008, I along with 9M6TK and 9W6JJM went up to Laban Rata located +-3000m up near the Mount Kinabalu's Peak to repair Borneo Amateur Radio Club's repeater which is 9M4RBK.

What we did is we fit in a set of new repeater Kenwood TKR-750 to replace the Motorola pair.

Division of job:

9M6TK(Timothy) carried out repeater replacement, rearrangement of cabling.
9W6JJM(Jasper) carried out repeater's antenna physical check.
9M6WST(James) carried out repeater's duplexer retune.

Antenna SWR is 1.2:1 and with duplexer's lost, total output is 18watt.

Coverage test done on the night of 2/8/2008 with a 2m net run by 9W6HI(net manager). Many stations checked in to the net from else where of Sabah, Brunei and via echolink.

Mission success.
